Flag weights have a similar purpose as a flagpole retainer rings but they are only for the end of the flag. The weight helps apply tension to keep flags taught and close to the flagpole. It keeps the flag taught by sharing stress with the line.  If your flag is billowing in the middle even after adding a retainer ring, a flagpole weight could be of great help. Flagpole weight is suitable for all types flagpoles. This range of flagpole weights have been designed to meet the specifications required within the flagpole industry. The flag weights are made to hold the flag in position.

A flag weight is used at the bottom of a flag arrangement to help keep the retainer down on the flag pole when experiencing high wind. Especially with lightweight and very large flags, the wind can pick up the flag, sliding the hardware up the flagpole. This creates wear on the flag pole and creates a situation where your flag and hardware can get tangled. This leads to a shortened lifespan for your flag but also doesn't look very nice.
